Technology & Information Sharing - BIM
Steffian Bradley Architects has employed BIM (Autodesk Revit) as our primary design and production tool for all of our projects since 2007. BIM creates a digital representation of the physical and functional characteristics of a building in a virtual environment.

We find that the visualization in the 3D environment allows for:
- design concepts to be more easily explained
- detailed coordination of services and structure
- clash detection
- complex equipment fit and coordination
- early understanding of complex areas to inform program
The model is also helpful as the basis for energy modeling when engineering the building systems and envelope.
BIM becomes a shared knowledge resource, to be updated, modified, and used throughout the design and construction process and then for the lifecycle of the completed project. We have also found the creation of an accurate BIM model in the design phase becomes invaluable during construction administration. The ability to share information with the intention of ensuring a more highly coordinated construction effort results in a better, more consistent end built product.
